Waterfowl and Pheasant

WATERFOWL...
Our lakes and sloughs continue to attract a waterfowl population like no other area. Canadian, snow, and blue geese migrate through the area in high numbers as do an unlimited number of mallards, wood ducks, pintails, and more. Being located in the center of over 40,000 acres of public hunting lands make this area a perfect affordable waterfowl destination. Licenses can be purchased over the counter for spring white goose, September Canada goose, and on a lottery system for regular season waterfowl. Please check with the SDGFP for more information on specific dates for draws.

PHEASANTS...
Pheasant hunting continues to be one of the main attractions to our corner of the state. Again, our public hunting acres draw the independent hunter. Even though bird numbers vary year to year, we have recently been pleasantly surprised at the number of birds our hunters have harvested. Take advantage of South Dakota's late season pheasant hunting. Purchase your 10-day license after December 15th allowing you to enjoy your hunt for five days, and your second 5-day hunt can be activated during next year's pheasant season! SD Pheasant season ends on January 31st.
